t's a common misconception that you need fancy equipment to improve your D-Line. All the tools you need can be purchased for less than $100 bucks.
That's why for D-Line Examples #100 I'll be breaking down how to create your own DIY (do it yourself) equipment set.
Instead of getting expensive pop ups, use trash cans to improve your D-Line's ability to hip flip and run stunt. You may even find a few laying around your school that you can pick up for free!

Lax Ball on String
Rather than carrying a bulky ball and stick around all day, simply attach some string to a LAX ball using a thumbtack and walla you have a grab and go tool to practice get off.
Rings can help break down complex movements, like flipping your hips, into simple step by step progressions (example below).

D-Line is all about stimulus response. The quicker the response the closer you'll be to making plays. Tennis balls can be used to develop this skill in both the pass and run.

A buddy to practice with is your greatest asset as a D-Linemen. All the drill equipment in the world can't simulate what a person can and can be especially useful in developing recognition to different blocking schemes.
A final word
In closing, you don't need thousands of dollars to develop a great defensive line. Just a bit of creativity and ingenuity.
